Yesterday I went to get a massage. It was recommended by my doctor as a way to relieve a bit of pain in my back. So as the masseuse begins to massage me she tells me to let her know if she is working to hard. I quickly tell her, “You can probably use as much pressure on me and not hurt me.” She rebutted with, “You don’t want me to do that.”
So I am thinking to myself, this girl is 5’2” and between 90-100 pounds, “Do your worst. I probably need it.”
Oh my! This sprite little lady packs a punch. I hurt during the massage. She said I had a lot of knots and tension. I hurt after the massage. She said I probably would. I hurt today…badly. She didn’t say anything about that.
So my point, other than to whine like a little girl who dropped her lollypop in the dirt, is that you can never tell who is going to have great power. I totally underestimated that girl. She apparently had more strength that I imagined and she clearly knew how to put that strength to work for her. You see where I am going yet?
We, each and every one of us, have a source of strength beyond what anyone can see, Jesus Christ. When we have trained to use that source (bible study, prayer, church) we can greatly impact those around us. We might even be surprised by how powerful we can be if we just get out of His way and let Him use us.
I know I will feel better in a day or so. I know my body will feel wonderful because this little person has put such a whoopin’ on me. I know this because I have heard testimony to that affect. I know this because my masseuse told me. Let Jesus put a whoopin’ on you and your friends and your family and your coworkers. They may not be real comfortable at first but Jesus can make it all better.
Now, if I someone could just give me a muscle relaxer that would be great.
