Okay, I need your help here folks. This is serious.
There are many considerate folks that work at my office. There are many friendly folks here. They even wash there hands after going to the loo, I think.
On the other hand there are many terribly inconsiderate people in my office as well. They are grumpy (not just in the morning like me) and not very friendly. I don’t think they wash their hands after using the loo. What’s more, they don’t turn on the stink-sucker when they go #2.
Look, my desk it but 15 feet from the water closet and I know people think their own stuff smells like roses but we all know that is a lie; I often catch the odiferous emanations coming from whatever lab experiment has gone awry in there smack dab on my face.
“Let’s see, I have a leaky gas tank and no car jack. Hmmm, those 2×4’s should do. Now, let’s get to welding.”
If you ever do something for someone and you want it to be anonymous make sure no one sees you. I did something for a friend of mine at work the other day. I didn’t want him to know who did it so I just left it in his mailbox. I didn’t want him to feel obligated to “owe” me anything, you know? Anyway, there was one person in the building when I dropped it in his mailbox and that person happened to be sitting right in front of the mailboxes. I asked him, “Please don’t tell him who did this.” Apparently, what he heard was, “Make sure he knows who did this” because when my friend was asking around the dude said, “Oh yeah, that one guy in sales told me to make sure you knew it was him.” Sheesh!
We had our first “Youth on the Loose” Wednesday night event last night. We ate pizza and played ‘Rock Band’. We had prizes for the best band but since two of the members were my wife and Pastor Tony we put together an ‘All-Star’ band (the top performers on each instrument) and played one final ‘encore’. We also had prizes for the top over-all performer and for the most spirited performer. That race wasn’t even close. Cooper was so over the top with his singing performance the worship team could hear him across the building. It was great.
I think everyone had a really good time. We had two first-time guests of which I know one will be back. I can’t wait until our next event. Regular services are great but I just don’t get to hang out with the students like I do when we have an event. That’s where I have seen a great bit of opening up and relationship building. I think I am going to have to find a way of making every meeting as open and as fun as last night.
