I just drove back from my doctor’s office…with BOTH HANDS!!!  I am not out of the sling.  The following is a transcription of the conversation going on in my head right now:

David’s Id, “I am going to celebrate tonight!”

David’s Ego and Super-Ego, “How so?”

Id, “By dousing the sling in gasoline and setting it on fire!!!”

Ego, “I wouldn’t do that.”

Super-Ego, “Hrrrmmmm.  Could be fun if not entirely logical.”

Id, “Shut up, I’m burning it.”

Ego, “Well, with the Fuller propensity for injury being considered, you may want to reconsider; you never when we may need it again.”

Id, “Ugh!”

Super-Ego, “You are probably right.  However, if and when we need it again I am sure we will be charged for a new one.  BURN THE STINKING THING!!!”

Party tonight!

I was hoping Cheri would let me get one of these and hang it in the living room.  However, I don’t even get the chance to get shot down.  It seems as if the artist will not license any reprints.  Darn it all!

Read about the Mona Leia here.

It has been requested that I update my blog.  I know, I couldn’t believe it either.  I guess since I have been home for the last seven days doing little to nothing I could give it a shot.

Last Wednesday I had surgery on a SLAP Tear (no, I didn’t swear at my Momma).  The procedure is called SLAP Repair, go figure.  Nothing too terribly major really; they went in via three small incisions, lassoed the torn Labrum, anchored it down to the bone with a screw and repaired some torn cartilage while they were in there.  I couldn’t feel anything for the rest of the day thanks to a nerve block.  However, the next day and the following four or five have been REAL fun.  I have had to decide if I would rather feel nauseous from the pain killers or just suck it up, be a man and take the pain.  I chose the former for several days, dosing myself with 700 mg of Hydrocodone every four hours.

The last couple of days I have chosen to Man-Up!  No pills what-so-ever.  I can almost think clearly and I don’t have the dizzy, pukey feeling all the time.  So that’s good.

Maybe I will scan the procedure pictures and post them up here.  What do you say?  What to see them?

I am sorry I have been so sporadic in my posting habits lately.  I have been crazy busy at work and with church and with school and with life.  On the bright side, I am almost done with my first class (finally).  I have read all the books and am now working on the assignments for each.  I should be done in a jiffy.  Maybe, just maybe after that I will have a little bit of time to catch my breath.  I need it.

Until then, thank you for continuing to check back with me.  I have some stuff coming up the pipeline but most of it is a garbled mess right now.  See you when it makes sense.

Someone found my blog recently by searching for “severe gas pain.”  I am wondering if I am blogging about the wrong subject matter these days.

A special shout out to my pastor, Tony.  He has been blessed with a copious amount of grace and encouragement and has put it to good use with me several times over the last couple of years.  Thank you.

A Soccer Hater’s Observations of a Soccer Game That Was Played Last Night and Attended by Said Soccer Hater Because a Student of His Was Playing in the Game

One of my students had a soccer game last night so my wife and I decided we should go.  Keep in mind that I know nothing about soccer said for a few things:

1)     In pro (or elite level, i.e. World Cup) soccer, regardless of the outcome of the game, soccer fan is going to riot.  I don’t know why, that is just what they do.

2)     There is way too much running.

3)     There is way too much grabbing of genitalia.

4)      Off-sides has to be the most ridiculous rule I have ever heard of and quite frankly I don’t think I completely understand it.  I mean, if a wide receiver beats his man and catches a touchdown pass he is not called for off-sides, he is called the better player.

So we watched the game and I kept to myself.  Okay, so maybe I made a few snide comments about the game.  Only a few.  Oh, and a comment or two about Tony wearing a Dallas Cowboys t-shirt.  If that weren’t enough, the team his son was playing was from Dallas.  Sheeesh!

I don’t get it.  Silly game.  Silly fans.  Can’t we ban this game from America and just play real FOOTBALL?
